Trinity gets 3 defensive TDs in 45-0 win
Jonah Williamson passed for one touchdown, ran for another and Trinity’s defense produced three scores as the Hillers rolled to a 45-0 win over Ringgold in the Class 4A Big Six Conference opener Friday night at Hiller Field.
Trinity (1-0, 2-4) forged a 24-0 lead in the first half and then turned the game over to its defense, which scored the final three touchdowns. Caden Voegl intercepted a Ringgold pass and returned it 35 yards for a score in the final minute of the first half. In the third quarter, Semaj Fuse scooped up a Ringgold fumble and rambled 49 yards for a touchdown. Phillip Whitlock ended the scoring with a 100-yard interception return in the fourth quarter.
Williamson threw a 23-yard TD pass to Chase Kostelnik in the first quarter and had a one-yard TD plunge in the second after Ringgold fumbled a snap from center on a punt.
Owen Gardner had a 25-yard scoring jaunt and Andy Palm opened the scoring with a 21-yard field goal.
Williamson completed 12 of 18 passes for 130 yards. Nico Mauro rushed for 88 yards on 12 carries.
