High school baseball: McGuffey scores 4 in bottom of 7th for win

Lincoln Johnson hit a three-run double, capping a four-run bottom of the seventh inning that gave McGuffey a 10-9 win over Fort Cherry on Thursday at EQT Park.

Mason Piatt doubled and scored three runs for the Highlanders, and Austin Johnson scored three times and drove in a pair.

Cam Dames was the winning pitcher in relief.

Ryan Huey went 4-for-5 with two doubles and scored four times for Fort Cherry.

Canon-McMillan 17-17, Woodland Hills 1-0

Nico Patragas homered, Alex Shank drove in five runs and M.J. Maruschak pitched a five-hitter as Canon-McMillan routed Woodland Hills 17-1 in five innings Thursday in Class 6A Section 2.

Shank went 2-for-2 with a double and triple. The Big Macs had seven extra-base hits among their 12 hits. Colin Yeager, Kolton Smittle, Troy Stimpson and Blake Simmons each had a double.

Maruschak struck out 10 and did not walk a batter.

The Big Macs completed a doubleheader sweep by winning 17-0 in four innings.

Brayden Radue led the C-M attack with a grand slam in the first inning and finished the game with six RBI. Shank had another double, Patragas doubled and drove in four, and Maruschak and Massimo Falconi doubled.

Winning pitcher Michael Stafford struck out five.

Canon-McMillan (3-0, 7-1) has won seven in a row.
