Belle Vernon hires Bryer as football coach

Scott Bryer, an assistant since 2015, was confirmed Tuesday night as Belle Vernon High School’s new football coach.
Bryer, 53, an elementary principal in the Mt. Pleasant School District, succeeds Matt Humbert, who led the Leopards to consecutive PIAA and WPIAL Class 3A championships. Humbert, Belle Vernon’s athletic director, resigned as football coach after last season.
He was approved as the new coach by an 8-0 vote of the school board.
Prior to being a BVA assistant, Bryer was assistant head coach/defensive coordinator at Mount Pleasant from 2001-2008.
He is a South Allegheny graduate and earned his teaching degree from Robert Morris University and a masters degree from PennWest California University.
Bryer and his wife, Tina, reside in Rostraver.
Bryer previously coached at Belle Vernon under former head coach Aaron Krepps.
