High School Baseball: Woodward homers twice in Jefferson-Morgan win over Brownsville

John Woodward blasted two home runs in the third inning to power Jefferson-Morgan to a 14-2 victory over Brownsville (4-8) in a nonsection game Thursday.
Woodward hit a pair of two-run homers to bookend a nine-run frame for the Rockets (9-3). Jaymison Robonson had an RBI single and Brayden Ellsworth smacked a two-run single in the inning.
Canon McMillan 4, Hempfield 3
Canon-McMillan had to withstand a late Hempfield rally, but secured a 4-3 win in a Class 6A Section game.
The Spartans (3-6, 5-11) had the two runners on and two outs in the bottom of the seventh, but Landon Holley struck out Josh Cayer to earn a save. Michael Stafford got the win with four strikeouts over six innings.
Massimo Falconi doubled and drove in two runs for the Big Macs (9-3, 13-4). Troy Stimpson and Colin Yeager tripled.
Charleroi 8, Beth-Center 1
Jacob Gelder pitched three scoreless innings, and had a triple for Charleroi (7-5) in a 8-1 win over Beth-Center (3-9) in a nonsection game.
Kaden Woods singled, doubled and drove in three runs for the Cougars. Ashten Pinkney had an RBI single for the Bulldogs.
N Mapletown (2-10) cruised past Hundred (Wva.), 24-0, in a nonsection game.
Lucas Stevenson had a three-run homer. Carson Vanata hit a solo homer. Ashton Walker went 4-for-4 and Ashtin Nesselroad pitched a no-hitter.
