High School Softball: Ferri fires a no-hitter to power Chartiers-Houston past Seton LaSalle
Meadow Ferri pitched a no-hitter with 17 strikeouts to pace Chartiers-Houston in an 8-1 victory over Seton LaSalle (2-3, 4-5) in Class 2A Section 3 Thursday afternoon.
Ferri yielded one unearned run and had three walks. Sydney English had a two-run double in the bottom of the first for the Bucs (8-0, 14-1). Seanna Riggle and Taryne Drilak hit an RBI single. Drilak finished with three hits, including a double and three RBI. Alana and Zaylee Fonner singled twice.
Waynesburg 11, California 0
Gina Tedrow pitched a five-inning no-hitter with 14 strikeouts in an 11-0 win for Waynesburg (8-6) over California (2-6) in a Class 2A Section 4 game.
Tedrow yielded two walks, which were the Trojans’ only base runners.
Avery Davis singled twice and drove in three runs for the Raiders and Ellie Makel had a pair of hits and RBI.
Charleroi 14, East Allegheny 2
Charleroi scored 10 runs in the bottom of the fourth on its way to a 14-2 victory in five innings over East Allegheny (0-8, 0-11) in Class 3A Section 3.
Payton Huweart had a bases-clearing double, Lyla Brunner hit a two-run triple, Arihana Blouse singled in a pair and Nori Stringa-Smith had an RBI double for the Cougars (4-2, 6-6) in the fourth.
Burgettstown 15, Carlynton 3
Madelina Guiddy homered, tripled, singled and had two RBI to propel Burgettstown in a 15-3 win in five innings over Carlynton (2-5, 3-9) in a Class 2A Section 3 game. Lyla Sheman had a pair of doubles and a triple for the Blue Devils (3-4, 7-8). Raya Sentipal, Andi Midler and Emma McGregor also had multi-hit games.
Greensburg Central Catholic 9, Monessen 3; Monessen 9, Greensburg Central Catholic 7
Monessen (3-6, 3-8) split a Class A Section 3 doubleheader with Greensburg Central Catholic (2-5, 2-5) losing the first game 9-3 and winning the second one 9-7.
Joey Hurst went 3-for-3 in the second game for the Greyhounds with four RBI and was the winning pitcher. Amirra Brewer and Kendra Jones had two hits apiece.
South Park 5, McGuffey 0
Sydney Sekely tossed a complete game shutout with 14 strikeouts to propel South Park (8-0, 15-0) past McGuffey, 5-0, in a Class 3A Section 3 game.
Mackenzie Shrader, Makenna Crothers and Julianna Ward singled for the Highlanders (6-3, 9-5).
Our Lady of the Sacred Heart 15, Fort Cherry 0
Our Lady of the Sacred Heart (5-1, 7-5) won 15-0 in three innings over Fort Cherry (0-7, 0-11) in a Class 2A Section 3 game.
Chargers pitcher Camryn Hummel did not allow a baserunner over three innings and had three strikeouts.

Jefferson-Morgan (4-3, 7-4) earned a 17-0 win over Mapletown (1-7, 3-10) in Class A Section 2.
