High school golf: South Fayette wins TRICADA

Led by medalist Brady Newman, South Fayette won the Class 3A team title at the TRICADA golf championship Friday at Nemacolin Country Club.

Newman shot 3-under par 69 to lead the Lions who shot 380, besting Peters Township by one stroke. Canon-McMillan finished third at 397.

Camden Reyes of Peters Township shot 1-under 71 to finish second in the individual standings and South Fayette’s Sam Bishop shot even-par 72.

Charleroi won the Class 2A team title by shooting 425, seven shots better than second place Chartiers-Houston. Jackson Keranko shot 82 to lead the Cougars.

Waynesburg shot 452 to finish third.

Jefferson-Morgan’s Urijah Teasdale shot 75 to finish fifth overall and had the best round of a Class 2A player.

Elizabeth-Forward 190, Belle Vernon 202

Elizabeth-Forward bested Belle Vernon in a nonsection match at Cedarbrook Golf Course Gold. Elizabeth-Forward’s Aaron Didjunas and Belle Vernon’s Jordan Mocello shared medalist honors, shooting 35.
