Crouse propels Waynesburg past West Greene

Junior quarterback Teagan Crouse ran for three touchdowns and passed for two others, powering Waynesburg to a 50-6 season-opening win over visiting West Greene on Friday night.
Crouse did all of his damage in the first half, scoring on runs of 13, 28 and 9 yards, then threw scoring passes of 3 and 91 yards in the second quarter as Waynesburg led 35-0 at halftime.
Waynesburg took advantage of an aggressive West Greene offensive approach on fourth down to set up their first score. West Greene went for it on 4th-and-5 in their own territory but a shotgun snap from center sailed over the quarterback’s head and Waynesburg took over at the Pioneers’ 16-yard line. That set up a 13-yard run by Crouse for a 7-0 Waynesburg lead.
Waynesburg took over on downs at the West Greene 39 later in the opening quarter and Crouse ran 28 yards to make it 14-0.
A long pass from Crouse to Zach Jiblits set up Crouse’s third TD run early in the second quarter.
A 30-yard pass to Jack Ricciuti that set up a three-yard flip from Crouse to running back Ross Tennant that made it 28-0.
Late in the first half, Waynesburg began a drive at its own 10-yard line. After a run lost one yard, Crouse hit Ricciuti in stride down the left sideline for a 91-yard touchdown with 39 seconds left in the first half.
Tennant scored on a six-yard run in the third quarter and Jackson Brunell had a one-yard scoring plunge in the fourth for the Raiders.
West Greene’s lone points came in the third quarter, when Jacob Orndoff ran eight yards for a touchdown.
Crouse completed seven of eight passes for 195 yards and carried six times for 70 yards. Ricciuti caught four passes for 158 yards.
