Rush leads Avella past Mapletown

Chas Rush threw four touchdown passes and added an 84-yard scoring jaunt as Avella rolled to a 41-6 victory over visiting Mapletown on Friday night.
It was a nonconference game between the Tri-County South rivals. The teams will meet again, also at Avella, on Oct 3 in a game that will count in the conference standings.
Rush threw scoring passes of 14 and 28 yards to Noah Kimberland, 46 yards to Cody day and 40 yards to Bryce Wright. Rush completed six of nine passes for 132 yards.
The biggest scoring play by Rush came on his 84-yard TD run that gave Avella a 14-0 lead with seven seconds left in the first quarter. Two TD passes pushed the lead to 28-0 at halftime.
Mapletown made it 28-6 early in the third quarter when Carson Vanata scored on a two-yard run.
Rush’s second TD pass to Kimberland, and a 69-yard TD run by Wright closed the scoring.
Rush led Avella’s ground game with 134 yards on 13 carries. The Eagles ran for 246 yards.
