Stover runs for 3 TDs in South Fayette win

Bo Stover ran for three touchdowns as South Fayette opened its season with a 38-15 victory over host Chartiers Valley on Friday.
The Lions fell behind 7-0 early on a 52-yard TD pass from Michael Lawrence to Julius Best, but Drew Welhorsky connected with Daniel Speca on a 46-yard touchdown pass that tied the score in the first quarter. Welhorsky completed nine of 11 passes for 108 yards and added 89 rushing yards on eight carries.
Stover then scored on TD runs of five and two yards, and Luke Gillen booted a 35-yard field goal that gave South Fayette a 24-7 lead at halftime.
Stover scored his third touchdown on a 39-yard jaunt in the second half and freshman Aayden Wright broke free for a 61-yard touchdown run that capped the scoring for the Lions.
Wright led the Lions’ ground game with 101 yards on seven carries. Stover finished with 65 yards on nine attempts.
