Mapletown wins with 2-point conversion with 3 seconds remaining

MAPLETOWN – Carson Vanata scored on a three-yard touchdown run with three seconds remaining in the game, then ran in a two-point conversion that gave Mapletown a thrilling 22-21 victory over visiting Frazier in a nonconference game Friday night.

Mapletown (1-1) trailed 14-7 after three quarters and 21-14 when Frazier (1-1) scored a go-ahead touchdown with 4:39 remaining.

Vanata then capped Mapletown’s game-winning drive. The junior running back finished the night with 161 rushing yards on 24 carries. He scored on a 56-yard run in the second quarter that tied the score at 7-7.

Frazier went ahead 14-7 in the third quarter, but Mapeltown tied it again on an eight-yard TD run by Colton McKnight with 10:01 remaining.
