Observer-Reporter
Though they are neighboring schools with rich wrestling traditions, Waynesburg and Jefferson-Morgan have not met on the mats very often in recent years. But it is safe to say that it had been a while since J-M last beat the Raiders before Wednesday night.
Jefferson-Morgan won four bouts via pin and one by technical fall en route to a 41-27 season-opening victory over visiting Waynesburg.
The Rockets received falls from Caleb Dulaney (114), James Dulaney (133), EJ Lingenfield (139) and heavyweight Landon Heath. Geno Orlandi (160) was a winner by a 17-1 technical fall. Carson Sweeney (121) won by injury default.
Waynesburg had pins by Jesse Huff (127), Avery Gallagher (145) and Cole Phillips (152).
Belle Vernon 33, Bethel Park 23
Belle Vernon was a 33-23 winner over Bethel Park. Gracin Guglielmo (107), Brayden Broadwater (113), Enzo Ortolano (121) and defending state champion Elijah Brown (220) each won by fall for the Leopards.
