High School Softball: Glendenning leads Wash High past Monessen
Aniya Glendenning had a fine start to the season for Wash High softball.
She doubled, homered, had four RBIs and was the winning pitcher with two strikeouts to help Washington defeat Monessen 16-5 in five innings Saturday.
Faith Partozoti added a pair of hits and drove in three runs for the Prexies.
Washington (1-0) scored 14 runs through the first three innings.
Grace Clingenpeel tripled, singled and had an RBI for the Greyhounds (0-1).
Mt.Lebanon 29, Avella 7
A big day from Mt. Lebanon’s Rebecca Davis proved too much to overcome for Avella.
Davis had five hits in six at-bats, including two doubles and a homer to lead the Blue Devils (1-0) to a 29-7, five-inning victory at the Ripken Experience in Tennessee Saturday.
Madison Rush and Haleigh Rush homered for Avella (0-1).
Baseball
South Fayette 11, Regis (N.Y.) 1
Connor Rynn was in control on the mound, tossing five shutout innings as South Fayette picked up an 11-1 victory in six innings over Regis (N.Y) Saturday in Florida.
Rynn struck out three and yielded only three hits. Trey Skeen singled twice and plated four runs for the Lions (2-0) and Bo Stover tripled.
