High school softball: Steban powers Canon-Mac past PT
Skylah Steban doubled, hit a two-run homer and drove in four, Kadence Merigo also homered and Canon-McMillan defeated visiting Peters Township 16-4 in five innings on Monday.
Hailey Swope and Lyla Mowery each drove in three runs for the Big Macs, and Sophia Carl scored three times.
PT was held to six hits by two Canon-Mac pitchers. Mackenzie Morgan had a double and triple, and Avery Carson had a two-bagger.
McGuffey 13, Beth-Center 3
Makenna Crothers struck out nine and eight different McGuffey players had hits as the Highlanders defeated Beth-Center 13-3 in six innings.
Nicole Klagas and Miley Main each had three hits and a double lead McGuffey. Faith Ealy, Maura Janovich and Mackenzie Shrader also doubled. The Highlanders stole 13 bases.
Allison Lynch had a triple for B-C, and Jenna Pohill and Kendall Welsh doubled.
Brownsville 14, Fort Cherry 0
Ava Clark struck out 13 as Brownsville shut out Fort Cherry, 14-0, in five innings.
Brownsville’s Lena Rechichar had the lone extra-base hit in the game, a triple.
Beaver 9, South Fayette 6
Beaver scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning to rally for a 9-6 win at South Fayette.
