High school softball: Trinity rolls in season opener

Hannah Suhoski went 4-for-5 and drove in four runs, Ally Krenzelak was a single shy of hitting for the cycle and Trinity opened its season Friday with a 16-5 win Friday over Atlantic Collegiate Academy in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Suhoski had a double and triple to go with three runs while Krenzelak had a home run, triple, double and four runs. They combined for five of Trinity’s seven extra-base hits. Charlotte Hinkler and Alexa Zawacki hit doubles. Hinkler scored four runs.

Winning pitcher Maddie Ray worked five innings.

Chartiers-Houston 9, Yough 2

Seanna Riggle hit a home run, Ella Richey drove in three runs and Chartiers-Houston won at Yough, 9-2.

Richey was a home run shy of hitting for the cycle. Aubree Randolph also had three hits, including a double. Zaylee Fonner hit a triple.

Winning pitcher Meadow Ferri threw a one-hitter and struck out 14. Both Yough runs were unearned.

Charleroi 12, Mapletown 2

Charleroi scored five times in the bottom of the fifth and beat visiting Mapletown 12-2 on Friday.

Winning pitcher Ariahna Blouse twirled a five-hitter that included doubles by Mapletown’s Treslee Weston and Makenna Lotspeich.

Charleroi’s Avery Pendo had a triple.

Jefferson County (Tenn.) 6, Bentworth 5

Jefferson County (Tenn.) scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat Bentworth 6-5 in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.

Nora Lindley went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI for Bentworth, which led 4-0 after two innings.

Bentworth’s Sydney Gonglik pitched three hitless innings with five strikeouts.

Mt. Lebanon 11, Peters Township 9

Mt. Lebanon outlasted Peters Township 11-9 in 10 innings Friday.

Winning pitcher Lilly Dwyer struck out eight. Sarah Stroh and Mary Langston each had two hits each for Lebo.

Mackenzie Morgan led Peters Township with three hits.

Mount Pleasant 9, Ringgold 4

Mount Pleasant used a pair of multi-run innings to beat Ringgold 9-4 on Friday.

Bethel Park 9, South Fayette 1

Taylor Streigel scattered six hits and pitched Bethel Park to a 9-1 win over South Fayette in a game played Friday in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Emma Early went 3-for-3 and drove in the Lions’ only run.
