High School Softball: South Fayette wins three times over the weekend in Myrtle Beach

The South Fayette girls softball enjoyed their time in Myrtle Beach, S.C. over the weekend and came home with three victories.

The Lions defeated Sharpsville 13-3 in six innings and Clay County (Wva.) 16-1 in five innings on Saturday and secured a 7-5 win over Stevenson (Ill.) Sunday.

Liv Bonacci singled, homered and drove in three runs against Stevenson.

Cam Valentino smacked a single and a double and had three RBI and Maddie Cavenaugh tripled.

On Saturday, Cavenaugh and Valentino had four hits apiece in the win over Sharpsville.

Cavenaugh had four RBI and a triple.

The Lions belted 17 hits. Bonacci, Addie Vierra and Brenna Dunn recorded a pair of hits.

Cavenaugh also shined against Clay County. She was the winning pitcher with eight strikeouts, tripled and drove in three runs. Valentino had six RBI, scored three runs and had two hits.

Burgettstown went 1-2 on the weekend in Tennessee.

The Blue Devils beat Portsmouth (Ohio) 16-6, on Sunday and lost both games of a double header against two different opponents Saturday, 6-5 against Patrick Henry (Va.) and 15-9 to Bearden (Tenn.) at the Ripken Experience in Tennessee

Brooklyn Robinson went 4-for-4 with a double, triple, three RBI and drew two walks. She was the winning pitcher for the Blue Devils with four strikeouts.

Reyna Sentipal, Layla Sherman and Madison Keating had three hits each for Burgettstown.

Against Patrick Henry, Sentipal singled three times and Camryn Reddinger had two hits, including a triple.

The second game Saturday against Bearden was only five innings and an early 15-4 deficit was too much to overcome.

Robinson had a pair of hits and RBI for the Blue Devils.

Sidney Gonglik tripled twice and had three hits to lead Bentworth past Portsmouth (Ohio), 11-1, in five innings Saturday at the Ripken Experience in Tennessee.

The Bearcats took advantage of eight errors committed by Portsmouth. Sofia Gausa added two singles and an RBI for Bentworth.

Alexa Zawacki went 3-for-3 on the day and Kaylee Danneker pitched 5 1/3 innings with four strikeouts to lead Trinity to a 5-4 win over Burrell Saturday in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The Hillers built a 5-1 lead through five innings, but Burrell scored once in the sixth and twice in the seventh to make it interesting.

Danneker, Remmie Seitz, Nina Christy, Emma Starr and Hanna Suhoski had an RBI apiece for Trinity.
