High school baseball: Shady Side Academy holds off McGuffey
Shady Side Academy scored four runs in the second inning and went on to a 7-4 victory over McGuffey in a Class 3A preliminary round playoff game Monday at West Mifflin.
Three SSA pitchers combined on a seven-hitter. McGuffey pulled to within 5-3 in the fifth inning but could get no closer.
Michael Bogdanovich had a double and drove in three runs to lead the SSA (8-13) offense. Brody Trischler and Charlie Wanless also doubled.
Sam Stout doubled and drove in two, and Lincoln Johnson added a double for McGuffey, which ends the season with a 9-10 record.
