CHARLEROI – If Washington can replicate its performance from Friday night’s trouncing of South Allegheny, it will be a fruitful and extended stay in the playoffs.

The Prexies used a stable of running backs and the passing and running of quarterback Tristan Reed on offense and returned two passes for touchdowns on defense in a 31-7 in the WPIAL Class 2A quarterfinals in Myron Pottios Stadium at Charleroi High School.

Washington (10-2) came into the game as the fifth seed while South Allegheny came in at No. 4.

The Prexies will take on top-seeded and conference rival Seton LaSalle next week in the semifinals. Seton LaSalle defeated Mohawk in the quarterfinals.

In the first half, Washington scored with its offense and defense to take a 24-7 lead.

Just three plays into the game, Wash High’s Blaise Naraskivitch stepped in front of an Alijah Cook pass and raced 18 yards for a touchdown that gave the Prexies a 7-0 lead only 1:05 into the game.

Just two plays into the second quarter, Washington went up 14-0 when Jamarie Walker burst through the line and bulled his way over from the two-yard line.

South Allegheny finally got on the scoreboard when Marcel Boxley went over from four yards out. The touchdown was set up on a 46-yard run by Derrick Pace.

Washington then went on a 10-play 75-yard drive that ended with a 22-yard field goal by Tyler Crawford.

Maybe the back-breaking score came with 15 seconds left in the first half. Cook was picked off by Reed and raced 21 yards for a touchdown and 17-point lead.

Reed would score again to start the second half. He set up the score with a 35-yard completion.

Naraskivitch was injured with 5:53 left in the game. He was carted off the field with what appeared to be a leg injury.
