Chartiers-Houston upsets South Side for first playoff win in 25 years
HOOKSTOWN – Dom Andreolli scored on a 2-yard run in the fourth quarter to give No. 12 Chartiers-Houston its first playoff win in 25 years in a 26-21 upset victory over No. 5 South Side Beaver (8-3) in a Class A game Friday night.
The last time Chartiers-Houston won a playoff game was in 2000, a 14-7 win over Clairton.
Andreolli finished the night with a pair of two-yard touchdowns, the first coming in the second quarter which cut South Side’s lead to 14-12 at halftime.
Dom Cumer got the Bucs on the board with a 70-yard interception return in the first quarter.
Aaron Walsh connected with Brody McCrerey on a 25-yard touchdown in the third.
The Bucs (8-3) play No. 4 Laurel in the quarterfinals next Friday.
