Clairton blanks Monessen for 10th straight shutout

CLAIRTON – Jeff Thompson III threw for 159 yards three touchdown passes and No. 2 Clairton posted its 10th consecutive shutout in a 50-0 win over No. 15 Monessen in a Class A playoff game Friday night.

Thompson threw a 28-yard touchdown to Donte Wright in the first quarter, a 45-yarder to Michael Ruffin and a 38-yarder to Brandon Murphy in the second. He also had a one-yard touchdown run in the fourth.

Deon Lovelace-Pompey had 112 yards rushing for the Bears and two touchdowns.

Clairton (10-1) advanced to play Jeannette in the quarterfinals. Monessen finished the season 6-5.
