High school soccer: Peters Township girls edge Canon-Mac in overtime

Katie Froelich scored the game-winner in overtime to lift Peters Township to a 3-2 victory over Canon-McMillan in the Class 4A Section 2 girls soccer opener Wednesday night. Fallan Malley and Marina Hajnosz also had a goal for the Indians.
Rachel Tomley and Ariane Saintonge scored for the Big Macs. Saintonge’s goal tied the match at 2-2 with 32 minutes remaining.
South Fayette 10, Oakland Catholic 0
Mia Deramo and Gabby Beinecke each scored two goals as defending WPIAL champion South Fayette defeated Oakland Catholic 10-0 in the Class 3A Section 3 opener Wednesday.
Ella Wolfe had four goals and an assist to help McGuffey (1-1, 2-2) secure a 6-0 win over Charleroi (0-3, 0-4) in a Class 2A Section 1 win. Maddie Crow contributed a pair of goals and assists each for the Highlanders, Hannah McDonald had three assists and Miranda Weaver made two saves in net to record a clean sheet.
Chartiers-Houston 2, Beth-Center 1
Freshman Payten Conner and Grace Littlecott scored the first two goals of the match and Chartiers-Houston went on to a 2-1 victory over Beth-Center.
B-C scored with 6:32 left in the game on a goal by Serena Durkin.
Bentworth 2, Waynesburg 0
Brielle Dillon and Brina Orsatti had a goal each as Bentworth blanked Waynesburg 2-0 in Class A Section 2 Wednesday night. Alex Jackson and Bella Moyer contributed an assist each for the Bearcats.
In other games: West Allegheny slipped past Trinity, 1-0 and Ringgold and Belle Vernon played to a scoreless draw.
