Beth-Center gives Trump first win
FREDERICKTOWN – Teagan Veatch and Chase Bebout hooked up on a pair of touchdown passes in the first half and Enzo Brown had a long scoring run in the second half as Beth-Center defeated Carmichaels 35-6 in the Class A Tri-County South Conference opener Friday night.
It was the first win for new Beth-Center head coach Tim Trump. The Bulldogs are 1-0 in the conference and 1-3 overall.
Carmichaels fell to 0-1, 1-2.
Beth-Center took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter on a 3-yard touchdown run by Homer Headlee. The touchdown was set up by a 57-yard gain on a screen pass.
In the second quarter Bebout threw scoring passes of 8 and 24 yards, both to Veatch, to push the Bulldogs’ lead to 21-0.
Carmichaels pulled to within 21-6 with 1:55 left in the first half when Job Smith scored on a two-yard run.
Brown broke free for a 58-yard touchdown run that gave Beth-Center a 28-6 lead in the third quarter.
Cyncere Cruz capped the scoring with a two-yard touchdown run around left end in the fourth quarter. The TD came following a long run by Brown, who left the game with an injury suffered on the play.
