Cornell comeback clips Burgettstown

CORAOPOLIS – Khylil Johnson caught a six-yard touchdown pass from Mark Stuckey Jr. in the fourth quarter to give Cornell an 18-13 come-from-behind win over Burgettstown in the Class A Black Hills Conference opener Friday night.

Burgettstown (0-1, 1-2) led 10-6 after the Blue Devils’ Michael Carrozza returned the second-half kickoff 78 yards for a touchdown. The lead went to 13-6 in the fourth quarter when Colton County booted his second field goal of the game, a 40-yarder. County opened the scoring with a 43-yarder.

Cornell’s Isaiah Dawson hauled in a 10-yard TD pass from Stuckey Jr. in the fourth quarter but the Raiders’ conversion attempt failed, leaving Burgettstown with a 13-12 lead.

The Blue Devils were held to 166 total yards but stopped Cornell twice on fourth downs and forced two turnovers.
