High school softball: Wash High shut down by Frazier
Frazier scored four runs in the seventh inning to nail down an 8-1 win over Washington in a key Class 2A Section 4 game on Thursday.
The win drops Wash High (5-2, 9-3) two games behind section leader Bentworth in the loss column. Frazier is 4-4, 5-7.
Winning pitcher Addison Hiles scattered eight hits but did not issue a walk. The Commodores committed only one error. Morgan Fisher was 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI.
Faith Partizoti and Tateionna Warren both had a triple for Wash High and Sophie McCort doubled.
Monessen 14, Geibel Catholic 3: Joey Hurst hit a grand slam and drove in eight runs, powering Monessen to a 14-3 win over Geibel Catholic.
Hurst went 3-for-3 and also had a triple, and Grace Clingenpeel went 4-for-4 with three RBI for Monessen (3-7).
Uniontown 10, Ringgold 0: Alivia Noah spun a three-hit shutout and Juliet White hit a two-run homer as Uniontown beat Ringgold 10-0 in a five-inning Class 4A Section 2 game.
Annie Pelissero had two of the three hits for Ringgold (0-9, 0-10).
