Carmichaels and Bailey Barnyak accomplished a lot Monday in a short amount of time.

Barnyak fired a two-hit shutout with eight strikeouts, including the 800th of her career, and added a pair of extra-base hits, leading Carmichaels to an 18-0 win at Avella in three innings.

The win clinched the outright Class A Section 2 championship for the Mikes (9-1, 12-3).

Barnyak hit a double and triple to go with two RBI. Carys McConnell and Joselyn Carter each drove in three runs, and Ainsley Simons scored three times.

Bentworth 10, Waynesburg 0: Sidney Gonglik homered and threw a two-hit shutout with 13 strikeouts, Addison McVicker also homered and drove in three as Class 2A Section 4 winner Bentworth remained undefeated with a 10-0 victory in five innings over Waynesburg.

Gonglik went 3-for-3 and drove in a pair. Nora Lindley also went 3-for-3 with two doubles and three RBI as Bentworth took control with a three-run first inning.

Trinity 14, Southmoreland 0: Kaylee Danneker fired a one-hit shutout and Trinity rolled to a 14-0 win over Southmoreland in a five-inning nonsection game.

Danneker walked only one and struck out seven as the Hillers improved to 15-3. Trinity has won five in a row.

Nina Christy led a 17-hit Trinity attack by hitting a two-run homer and a double. Charlotte Hinkler went 4-for-4 and drove in three runs. Maddie Ray, Abi Metcalf, Alexa Zawacki and Ally Krenzelak doubled.

McGuffey 4, West Greene 0: Miley Main twirled a two-hit shutout as McGuffey blanked host West Greene 4-0 in nonsection action.

Julianna Ward hit a two-run double in the fourth that gave McGuffey (7-5) a 2-0 lead. That was enough support for Main, who struck out six and walked one.

West Greene is 11-5.

South Fayette 5, Mars 4: Evie Vuono hit a key RBI single that capped South Fayette’s five-run frith inning as the Lions rallied and beat visiting Mars 5-4 in nonsection action.

Mars led 3-2 entering the fifth. Vuono finished with two RBI.

Tessa Simoni went 3-for-3 with two runs for Mars.

Belle Vernon 14, Latrobe 9: Belle Vernon scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to beat Latrobe, 14-9.

Paisley Hibner hit a home run and Brooke Hungland went 4-for-5 to pace Belle Vernon, which trailed 5-1 in the third inning.

Laurel Highlands 4, Charleroi 3: Laurel Highlands scored three early runs and held on for a 4-3 win over host Charleroi in a nonsection game.

Laurel Highlands (9-4) led 3-0 in the second inning. Charleroi (5-10) outhit the Mustangs 10-7 but the Cougars didn’t score until a two-run sixth.

Ariahna Blouse smacked a double, and Nori Stringa-Smith and Rya Dipietrantonio each had two hits for the Cougars.

Frazier 17, Jefferson-Morgan 2: Grace Polkabla drove in four runs, Emme Travalena smacked two doubles and Frazier defeated Jefferson-Morgan 17-2 in a four-inning nonsection game.

Addyson Teagarden hit a solo home run and drove in both runs for Jefferson-Morgan (11-5).

South Park 15, California 0: Undefeated Class 3A Section 3 champion South Park defeated California 15-0 in nonsection action.
