Riveters add South Fayette’s Deramo
The Pittsburgh Riveters have added one of the top girls soccer players in the WPIAL last year to their roster for the upcoming USL W League season.
The Riveters announced that South Fayette High School standout Mia Deramo has agreed to play for the team, which is in its second season.
Deramo is completing her time in the Hounds Academy this spring with the 2007/08 Elite Clubs National League team. Last fall, she helped South Fayette High School to its first PIAA state championship, finishing her career as a 50-goal scorer.
She is committed to play college soccer next season at Youngstown State.
“Mia started in the Riverhounds Academy Futures Program as a 6-year-old in 2013,” Riveters head coach Scott Gibson pointed out. “She has since played in the RDA all the way through and will now join the Riveters squad after her graduation this spring. She is a fearless player with excellent technical ability and will learn so much this summer.”
With Deramo, South Fayette won consecutive WPIAL Class 3A championships, in 2023 and 2024. Deramo scored two goals in a 4-0 victory over Fox Chapel in the 2024 finals. Fox Chapel edged South Fayette in the 2025 championship game, but the Lions bounced back and beat Radnor 3-1 and win the state championship.
The Riveters begin their season May 16 at home against Buffalo.
