High school softball: Trinity stays hot with win over Canon-McMillan
Maddie Ray allowed only one run over five innings pitched and struck out six as Trinity earned an 8-2 win over Canon-McMillan in a nonsection softball game on Thursday.
The Hillers (16-3) extended their winning streak to seven games.
Ray yielded only three hits and walked one.
Nina Christy and Gabby Humphreys had a double each in the third inning, which gave Trinity a 3-1 lead.
Alexa Zawacki also doubled for the Hillers.
Addy Jordan had an RBI single for Canon-McMillan (7-9) in the first inning.
Jefferson-Morgan 6, Waynesburg 4: Gabby Marmie had three hits, including a three-run homer to lift Jefferson-Morgan (13-5) to a 6-4 win at Waynesburg (6-9) in a nonsection game.
Marmie finished with four RBI and Ava Wood finished with three singles and a double. Emilee Bazzoli had eight strikeouts in a complete game in the circle.
Gina Tredrow took the loss, but struck out 14 hitters. She surrendered 11 hits and six walks. Ellie Makel had a solo homer for Waynesburg.
