West Greene Hall of Fame to induct 4 in 2026 class
The West Greene Hall of Fame will add four new members as the Class of 2026.
The induction will take place Friday, Sept. 4 before the Pioneers’ home football game against Brownville at Kennedy Field.
Hall of Fame festivities will begin at approximately 6:20 p.m.
The Class of 2026 includes Kory Bissett (wrestling), Madison and McKenna Lampe (cross country, girls basketball and softball) and Dave Yoders (baseball and football).
Following are biographies of each inductee:
Kory Bissett
Bissett was a member of the Class of 2007, and participated in wrestling as a four-year letterman.
He amassed multiple individual accolades, but was also part of a great four-year run of team success. Under the direction of Hall of Fame coach Allen Hughes, Bissett’s wrestling teams won three section titles and made four straight appearances in the WPIAL Team Tournament, advancing to the quarterfinals in all four seasons and the semifinals twice.
In his junior season, Bissett stood at the top of the podium at the 2005 Powerade tournament, and to date is West Greene’s last champion in that prestigious tournament. He was a three-time section, and three-time WPIAL champion. He was a four-time placewinner at the PIAA Southwest Regional, and a Regional champion in 2006. A two-time PIAA placewinner, Bissett finished third in 2006, and seventh in 2007. It was during the summer between his junior and senior seasons that he suffered a devastating shoulder. He fought through surgery, rehab and a limited number of matches his senior year to gain his second straight PIAA medal.
Bissett attended Edinboro University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in education. He was a three-year member of the Fighting Scots’ wrestling team. Bissett was hired by the West Greene School District in 2012 as an elementary school teacher, excelling at facilitating new-age phys ed regimens. He has held several coaching positions, including Little League Youth wrestling, head and assistant junior high wrestling, assistant varsity wrestling and is the Pioneers’ head varsity coach.
Kory is married to Haley (Blumer), and they have 2 children, Braxton and Ashlyn.
Madison Lampe and McKenna Lampe
Madison and McKenna Lampe were 2019 graduates. While Madison is just a couple minutes older than McKenna, their athletic careers, much like being identical twins, were “mirror like.”
Both were three-sport athletes, and both were four-year lettermen and four-time all-county in cross country, girls basketball, and softball. Madison, McKenna, and their teammates helped usher in an unprecedented wave of success for West Greene athletics, and produced team and individual results that have set new standards for Pioneer athletics.
Madison and McKenna were blessed with speed and stamina, making cross country a perfect fit. They were consistent placewinners at meets and invitationals. As a freshman, McKenna placed at the WPIAL meet and qualified for the PIAA Championships. They also helped win a section title in 2018, and anchored that group to a 3rd place WPIAL team finish.
On the basketball court, they were “twin terrors,” leading coach Jordan Watson’s “Press Greene” full-court attack. Their aggressive style helped the Pioneers to the WPIAL playoffs all four seasons and the PIAA playoffs three times. They helped West Greene win a section title in 2017 and reach the WPIAL championship game. It started a run of three consecutive section titles and three trips to the WPIALs. Madison was named all-state in 2017. Both girls became members of the 1,000-point club (their junior seasons) with Madison scoring 1,429 points and McKenna 1,631.
As members of the softball team, from 2016-2019, Madison and McKenna played vital roles in West Greene winning four consecutive section titles, four WPIAL championships and making three consecutive PIAA championships. In their softball careers, Madison and McKenna helped West Greene to a 96-12 record. Their teams were 13-0 in WPIAL playoff games and 13-2 in the PIAA playoffs.
Both girls finished their careers with a batting average over .500 (Madison .513, and McKenna .597), and neither struck out more than six times in a season. Both had more than 100 career hits (Madison 182, and McKenna 210). Both had more than 100 RBI (McKenna 112, and Madison 182). McKenna stole 139 bases and Madison 67. McKenna scored 219 runs and Madison had 191. McKenna had 67 extra-base hits, including 34 doubles, 14 triples and 19 home runs. Madison displayed a touch more power with 83 extra-base hits, including 42 doubles, 15 triples, and 26 home runs. Madison is given credit for “the greatest missed sign” in Pioneers softball history, after belting a home run in the state semifinals while sister was racing home on a squeeze bunt call. With the stage never too big for her, McKenna hit for the cycle in the 2018 state final.
Madison and McKenna were named 2017 Co-Pennsylvania Class A Players of the Year. Both were four-first team all-state.
Both girls went to Carlow University, were awarded Minutemen scholarships and began service in the U.S. Army Reserves while playing softball for the Celtics. Madison graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology with a minor in Psychology, while McKenna began her studies in Nursing and graduated with a degree in General Studies and a minor in Child Development.
Madison lives in Bridgeville and is employed as a Nursing Assistant for Concordia of the South Hills. She is still active in the U.S. Army. McKenna married Colin Austin, and they are expecting their first child in October. She is a Registered Behavior Technician, and specializes in therapy services for children with Autism. She also remains active in the U.S. Army Reserves.
Dave Yoders
Yoders is a 1979 graduate and he participated in football and baseball. He was a three-year letterman in football, and lettered in baseball in the inaugural season of the program.
A standout football player, Yoders played fullback and linebacker. His junior year saw the team finish with a 6-3 record, and he received All-County and All-Tri-County South Conference honors for the first of two consecutive years. As a senior, he was voted team MVP.
Yoders was provided a great opportunity his senior year when West Greene fielded its first varsity baseball team in 1979. Under the leadership of Hall of Famer and head coach Larry Piper, the Pioneers played well in its initial season, including a season-opening win over Hundred. Yoders swung a tremendous bat and was named team MVP.
Yoders played baseball at Waynesburg College and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. He was a four-year letterman as a starting pitcher. After college, he worked out for three major league teams, including an open tryout with the PIttsburgh Pirates and an individual tryout with the New York Mets. He was given a preferred tryout with the Baltimore Orioles and was offered a free-agent contract. He declined to move forward with the offer to play in Iowa, but his playing days were far from over. Yoders played slow-pitch and fast-pitch softball over 12 years, playing on eight County championship teams.
Yoders was hired as an elementary teacher in the West Greene School District in 1985, and he worked in that capacity for 36 years. He was head teacher at Aleppo Elementary for 21 years. He continued to teach through the years of consolidation of all former satellite elementaries. Dave took on extra-curricular roles for the district, coaching junior high football. He was the “voice of Pioneer football” for many years. Outside of West Greene, Dave also provided services as an employee for WVU (Contemporary Services Corporation) and the Washington Wild Things. At WVU, he finished with the title of Director of North Suites services.
Dave has been married to Mary (Bialko) 25 years, and they have one child, Allison.
