Crouse directs Waynesburg to 43-0 win
WAYNESBURG – Waynesburg quarterback Teagan Crouse ran for three touchdowns and passed to Jack Ricciuti for two scores, powering the Raiders to a 43-0 victory over visiting West Greene in a season-opening football game Friday night.
Waynesburg scored on all seven of its possessions in the first half and forged a 43-0 lead at halftime.
Crouse passed for 196 yards and rushed for another 76.
Crouse opened the scoring with a six-yard TD run following a long pass to Cole Phillips and 15-yard penalty against the Pioneers.
On Waynesburg’s next possession, Crouse ran 48 yards for his second touchdown that gave the Raiders a 12-0 lead.
Early in the second quarter, Crouse hooked up with Ricciuti on a 44-yard TD pass that made it 18-0. Riccuitti had 104 receiving yards.
Another long pass from Crouse to Phillips set up a seven-yard scoring run around left end by Ross Tennant as Waynesburg opened up a 25-0 lead.
Crouse hooked up again with Ricciuti, this time from nine yards, for Waynesburg’s fifth touchdown and a 33-0 advantage after Ky-mani Sumpter ran in the two-point conversion.
The Raiders scored 10 points in the final 6.6 seconds of the first half. A 25-yard pass to Phillips set up a nine-yard scoring run by Crouse. West Greene fumbled the ensuing kickoff and Sumpter recovered. On the next play, Nate Ricciuti booted a 36-yard field goal as time expired. Waynesburg scored 31 points in the second quarter.
Neither team scored in the second half.
