New Sieg, same result for Fort Cherry
McDONALD – The Matt Sieg era moved out of Fort Cherry last season. Fortunately, the Colin Sieg era has begun.
With Matt Sieg, the Rangers enjoyed some of their best days of high school football. And that’s exactly what Collin hopes to provide before he graduates. If Friday night’s game was any indication, then a lot more victories await the Rangers.
Collin Sieg rushed for 41 yards, passed for 165 and scored three touchdowns as Fort Cherry defeated Chartiers-Houston, 49-7, at Jim Garry Stadium.
“Different type of player but similar in some ways,” Fort Cherry head coach Tanner Garry said of the 6-2, 190-pound freshman. “He throws the ball really well. I’m proud of him.”
If Matt Sieg can put up those type of numbers, then who knows? Maybe Collin can join his brother at West Virginia University.
The Rangers roared out of the gate, taking a 14-0 lead after one quarter and 28-7 at halftime.
Collin Sieg scored three times, twice on passes and once on a short run. Eli Salvini scored on runs of 60 and 65 yards. Landon Trnavsky caught a 60-yard pass from Sieg for another score.
Chartiers-Houston broke the shutout when Brodey McCrerey caught a 75-yard pass from Teagen Bogdon.
Ryan Huey finished off the scoring with an 8-yard run for the Rangers.
