High school basketball: Raiders push winning streak to 8
Freshmen Tess Pauley and Emma Blair combined for 36 points, sparking Waynesburg to a 71-32 thumping of winless Albert Gallatin in a non-section game Wednesday.
Waynesburg (18-2) stretched its winning streak to eight games. The game was decided early as the Raiders set the tempo and led 25-6 after one quarter and 48-18 at halftime.
Pauley finished with a game-high 21 points and Blair netted 15. Addonae Johnson added 11 for the Raiders, who made nine three-point field goals.
Ellie Seese scored 13 points for AG (0-19).
North Catholic 39, Trinity 36
Class 4A power North Catholic knocked off Trinity 39-36 in a non-section game at Hiller Hall.
The game was close throughout as Trinity (14-6) led by one after the opening quarter and North Catholic was up 19-18 at halftime. The score was tied 29-29 after three quarters.
North Catholic (15-5) put three players in double figures led by Lauren Reitz’s 12 points. Harmony Jones had 11 and Brady Wehner 10.
Sutton Williamson scored a game-high 19 points for Trinity. She made four three-point field goals.

Avella 61, Hillel Academy 29
Bryce Wright led three Avella players in double figures with 13 points and the Eagles picked up their 17th victory of the season, defeating Hillel Academy 61-29 on Thursday.
Brayden Fuller chipped in with 11 points and Cody Clegg had 10 for the Eagles (17-4).
Penn-Trafford 80, Trinity 49
Jonah Williamson scored a game-high 28 points for Trinity, but host Penn-Trafford put four players in double figures and pulled away over the final three quarters for an 80-49 victory over the Hillers in a non-section game.
The first quarter was fast-paced and ended in a 21-21 tie. Penn-Trafford took control of ther game in the second quarter and moved out to a 43-30 halftime lead that was stretched to 57-40 at the end of three quarters.
Caleb Duyak led the Warriors’ blanched attack with 14 points, Zach Feldman and Ethan McDonald had 11 each and Ben lenart scored 10.
California 74, Mapletown 38
California picked up its first victory of the season, defeating host Mapletown 74-38 in a non-section game matching previously winless teams on Wednesday.
California pulled away after moving out to a 33-19 halftime lead.
Weston Monticelli led California with a game-high 20 points. He was supported by Alan Dennis with 15 points and Chase Shemansky had 11.
Kaleb Evoservich scored 13 points for Mapletown.
