High school wrestling: Trinity wins, sets up section showdown

Trinity rode three technical falls, one pin and four forfeits to a 51-12 victory over Waynesburg on Wednesday, setting up a showdown between the Hillers and Canon-McMillan next week for the section title.

Trinity won all but three weight classes (one no match). Grant Nalepka-Heyman (145) had the lone pin for Trinity. Landon Ault (127), Jacob Wright (139) and Behr Bruckner (172) each won by technical fall.

Waynesburg’s points came on a forfeit and a pin by Roan Tustin (215).

McGuffey 51, West Greene 15

Tucker Main (121), Clayton Ealy (127) and Aaron Supler 172 won by fall to help McGuffey earn a 51-15 win over West Greene in a Class 2A Section 1 match.

Victor Bonus won by tech fall at 152, Garrett Newman secured a major decision at 160 and Kash Main (189) and John Turek (215) picked up wins by decision.

Jacob Rizor (114) and Colin Whyte (heavyweight) had a pin each for West Greene and Noah Collins (133) won by decision.

Chartiers-Houston 48, Washington 27

Chartiers-Houston got pins from Camden Stamm (133), Caleb Tewell (152), Angelo Mele (160) and Tyler Clayton (215) as well as four forfeits in a 48-27 win over Wash High in a Class 2A Section 1 match.

Noah Patton (127), Caleb Patton (145) and Jahvon Woods (172) won by fall for the Prexies and Steven Bailes won a 10-4 decision at 189 pounds.

Chartiers Valley 39, South Fayette 31

Chartiers Valley used four wins by fall to fend off South Fayette, 39-31, in Class 3A Section 2.

Sawyer Dean (127), Brock Dennison (145) and Donovan Goins (heavyweight) accrued pins for the Lions Connor Dean (107) won by tech fall. Callon Patton (114) and Peter Leventis (139) scored major decisions.
