FREDERICKTOWN – This dual meet had a little bit of everything.

There were unexpected wins in some places and just as many unexpected losses.

There was a 30-minute delay when a fan in the stands became ill and required medical attention.

The only thing that wasn’t included in the dual meet was a Beth-Center victory.

Jefferson-Morgan saw to that with a 42-31 victory over the Bulldogs, moving its record to 10-0 overall on the season and 3-0 in the Class 2A section. Beth-Center fell to 2-1 in the section and faces another stiff test Wednesday against Bentworth. Jefferson-Morgan has one section match remaining, against Frazier.

“All the bouts were key,” said Jefferson-Morgan head coach Troy Barnhart. “We came out with all the momentum, got two falls then had that medical emergency. That hurt a little bit.”

Jefferson-Morgan finished off the match with a pin by heavyweight Landon Heath, who has been solid all season.

“We got off to a pretty good start last year, finished as co-champions with Bentworth,” Barnhart said. “These kids have a lot of growing to do.”

Jefferson-Morgan got off to a quick start with two pins. Austin Grandel pinned Noah McCollum in 4:33 and Brody Quigley stuck Calen Dulaney in 38 seconds.

The match was delayed about 30 minutes after a fan became ill in the stands. The stoppage came in the middle of the third bout. J-M finally got on the scoreboard when Alex Medlen pinned Caleb Dulaney.

“Once we had the flip, odd, we pretty much knew what we had,” Beth-Center head coach Gary Welsh said. “We didn’t have a 160 today. We had two 152s.”

One of the better matches was Malachi Peak’s 3-2 decision over J-M’s Alek Palko at 189.

“He got a nice win over a quality kid,” said Welsh.
