Elora Friend homered and Maddie Ray tossed a five-hitter as Trinity High School routed South Allegheny 16-1 in five innings Tuesday at the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The Hillers improved their record to 4-0, with each of the games being played in South Carolina.

Trinity wasted no time in taking control against their WPIAL opponent. The Hillers scored six runs in the top of the first inning, two on a triple by Nina Christy and two on a single by Charlotte Hinkler.

Friend led off the second inning with her home run.

That was more than enough offense for Ray, who allowed only a run in the bottom of the first. Ray walked one and struck out two.

Trinity outhit South Allegheny 14-5. Friend went 2-for-2 2 with three RBI, and Emma Starr had two hits and three runs.
