CANONSBURG – Bryce Collins rushed for 145 yards and four touchdowns, sparking Canon-McMillan to a 38-8 win over Seneca Valley in the Class 6A Quad County opener Friday night.

Collins, who carried 27 times, scored on runs of 6, 2, 7 and 2 yards.

Quarterback Ty Jansma hooked up with wide receiver Evan Lewis on a short pass in the first quarter. Lewis then broke a tackle near the line of scrimmage and raced 54 yards through the Seneca Valley defense to give Canon-Mac (1-0, 2-2) a 7-0 lead.

Rhys Maentz booted a 19-yard field goal to make it 10-0 in the second quarter and the Big Macs turned to Collins from that point.

Jansma completed 12 of 18 passes for 220 yards. Luke Sohyda caught five passes for 87 yards.

The loss was the first for Seneca Valley (0-1, 2-1). The Raiders’ lone touchdown came on a nine-yard run by Nico Wheeler in the third quarter.
