Allison’s week: As last Wednesday’s section championship match with Canon-McMillan went on, Allison was adding up the scores in his head.

When it got to his match at 145 pounds, the final bout of the night, the math became clear.

His match would decide whether Trinity would win the section title or finish in second place.

There was one more simple equation involved. One win equaled 100 for his career.

Allison got the job done on both fronts.

With a 7-1 decision over Canon-McMillan’s Mason Calgaro, Allison clinched a 31-27 victory for Trinity and reached the century mark for his career.

“I felt pretty excited once I knew it was going to come down to me,” Allison said. “I had beaten (Calgaro) earlier in the year (in the semifinals at TriCADA) 14-3 so I was pretty confident in myself. I knew I just had to go out there, wrestle and win us the title.”

After the match Allison got some pictures taken with family and friends with a banner that was made to commemorate his 100th win, but soon after he had to see the trainer to get some work done on a battle wound from the match.

“I had to go get some stitches for my eye, so that ended the celebration pretty quickly,” Allison said. “I ended up getting four stitches. It was a pretty memorable 100th win.”

Bouncing back: Allison spent most of his summer rehabbing after having a pair of surgeries, but he’s recovered well. He had a 19-1 record entering Wednesday’s first round of the WPIAL Team Tournament.

“It feels great, honestly,” Allison said. “At the start I had some doubt in myself, but I cleared that up pretty quickly. It was just believing the surgeries were worth it and not worrying about whether I’d get hurt again or be at the same skill level as I was before.”

College decision: There’s still more wrestling on the horizon this year at Trinity, but Allison’s hope is that he can wrestle in college. He’s still sorting out what school he wants to attend, but he has focused in on a major: Business Finance.

“I took a business accounting program in high school, and I’ve really liked it,” Allison said. “It’s something I’ve always been interested in.”

FBLA: Allison’s interest in business finance led him to joining Trinity’s Future Business Leaders of America club, where he’s the vice president. The responsibilities include helping the president with fundraising, setting up meetings and planning competitions to enter.

“There’s a trip to Hershey every year that’s pretty big,” Allison said. “You have to compete in events and if you make it states then you get to go to Hershey. It’s a pretty fun trip.”
