High school basketball: Nease sparks Burgettstown girls to victory
Kaitlyn Nease had another double-double, leading Burgettstown to a 50-32 victory over Yough on the Blue Devils’ hardwood Wednesday.
It was the first of two games in as many nights for Burgettstown, which improves to 3-2. Yough drops to 4-2 after winning its first three games.
Burgettstown led 23-16 at halftime and then took firm command of the game in the third quarter, outscoring the Cougars 17-8 for a 40-24 advantage.
Nease led the way, finishing with 26 points and 10 rebounds. Paige Klodowski contributed eight points to a winning cause.
Autumn Matthews led Yough in scoring with 13 points and Hailey Bock tallied 11.

Charleroi 48, California 38
Bryce Large tossed in 18 points to spark Charleroi to its first win of the season, 48-38 over California in a non-section game.
Jake Chambers also hit double figures for the Cougars with 12 points.
The game was close throughout. After a 10-10 deadlock in the first quarter, Charleroi moved out to a 22-14 halftime advantage. The Trojans battled back and pulled to within 36-31 heading into the final period.
Jacob Ziolecki led California with 14 points and Vinny Manzella had 10.
