High school basketball: Peters Township shoots down Ringgold
Jack Dunbar scored 20 points, Sean Thelk and Dylan Donovan had 14 each, and Peters Township won its second game in as many nights, 84-41, over host Ringgold in a Class 5A Section 1 boys basketball contest Wednesday night.
Cam Mills scored 11 points to give the Indians four players in double figures. Dunbar and Thelk each made four three-point field goals for PT (5-2, 13-5), which 43-28 at halftime and blew the game open with a 27-9 scoring edge in the third period.
Szyair Dungee was tops in scoring for Ringgold (0-8, 3-16) with 15 points and Daryl Tolliver had 10.
Waynesburg 48, West Greene 37
Alex Vansickle scored 16 points and Waynesburg defeated visiting West Greene 48-37 in a non-section game.
Waynesburg led 24-20 at halftime and 38-31 after three quarters. The Raiders held West Greene (11-6) to six points in the fourth quarter. The loss snapped a winning streak of six games for the Pioneers.
Dane Wood grabbed seven rebounds for Waynesburg (6-12), which has won two of its last three.
Girls results
Chartiers-Houston 67, Sto-Rox 16
Ava Capozzoli poured in 18 points and Chartiers-Houston rolled over visiting Sto-Rox 67-16 in a non-section game Thursday.
The Bucs (14-5) were in control throughout against Sto-Rox (4-14) as they raced to a 28-2 lead after one quarter. Capozzoli had 10 of her points in the opening quarter.
Ali Wingard finished with 13 points for C-H and Ella Richey tossed in 10, including eight in the big first quarter.
