South Allegheny spoils Heller’s debut
MONONGAHELA – South Allegheny spoiled Robert Heller’s coaching debut in a 28-14 nonconference victory over Ringgold at Joe Montana Stadium on Friday night.
South Allegheny had a 14-0 lead in the second quarter before Ringgold cut the deficit to 14-7 when Szyair Dungee threw a 46-yard reverse pass to Demetri Lowe for a touchdown.
The Gladiators responded to the Rams’ score and took a 20-7 halftime advantage on Camden Lewis’ 11-yard run with 1:15 left before halftime.
Dungee and Lowe connected again in the third quarter on a 31 yarder to pull Ringgold within a touchdown at 20-14.
Cam Epps caught a 27-yard pass for a touchdown from Ryan Cortes in the first quarter. Drew Cook pulled in another touchdown pass from Cortes in the second for a two-score lead.
