Wade leads Belle Vernon to victory over Ringgold
MONONGAHELA — Curtis Wade completed all 10 of his pass attempts and Belle Vernon took care of Ringgold 49-7 on Friday night in Class 4A Big Six Conference play at Joe Montana Stadium.
The Leopards (3-1, 4-3) finish the regular season next week at Trinity (3-1, 4-5). The winner is guaranteed a spot in the playoffs, while the loser will have to wait and see if the WPIAL football committee awards them one of the two at-large bids.
Wade connected with Anthony Crews for a 22-yard score in the first quarter and Preston Rathway made the first of seven PATs for a 7-0 lead.
The Rams (0-4, 1-8) scored their lone touchdown when Demetri Lowe took a pass from Ty Anderson for an 83-yard touchdown and William Cameron made the extra point for a 7-7 game. Lowe caught four passes for 111 yards.
Belle Vernon scored the next three touchdowns, as Crews (59 yards) and Deaubre Lightfoot (53 yards) pulled in touchdown receptions from Wade and Kole Doppelheuer ran in from four yards out and a 28-7 advantage after the first quarter.
Wade had two touchdown runs in the second period for a 42-7 halftime lead before Chase Petrosky scored on a 13-yard run in the third.
Wade threw for 233 yards and Crews caught four passes for 118 yards. Doppelheuer rushed for 146 yards on 12 carries.
