Carmichaels hangs 50 on Frazier

CARMICHAELS – Brandon Yekel scored three touchdowns and set up the final score of the first half in Carmichaels’ 50-20 victory over Frazier in nonconference action Friday night.

Yekel took a jet sweep from Cannon Bupka and raced 21 yards into the end zone and Robbie Wilson-Jones made the first of four extra points for a 7-0 lead with 4:26 left in the first quarter.

Wilson-Jones’ interception set up Carmichaels’ second score, a 52 yarder from Bupka to Yekel on another pass at the line of scrimmage with 2:20 left in the first period.

The Commodores (1-2) cut the deficit to 13-8 on Derek Diamond’s five-yard run. He added the two-point run with 7:58 left before halftime.

Yekel took another jet sweep into the end zone and Will Murray’s three-yard run gave Carmichaels a 29-14 halftime lead.

Bupka, Murray and Stephen Lewis scored touchdowns in the second half for the Mikes, who improved to 1-0.
