Carmichaels shuts out Beth-Center
Carmichaels scored on the game’s second play from scrimmage and its final snap of the first half. That was all the offense the Mikes’ defense needed as Carmichaels blanked visiting Beth-Center 18-0 in the Class A Tri-County South Conference opener Friday night.
After Carmichaels gained 35 yards on the first play of the game, the Mikes’ Will Murray burst 25 yards up the middle to the end zone to give the home team a 6-0 lead.Murray finished the night as the Mikes’ leading rusher with 80 yards on 13 carries.
It stayed that way until 43 seconds remained in the first half, when Carmichaels’ Robbie Wilson-Jones scampered 30 yards for a touchdown that gave the Mikes a 12-0 lead heading into halftime.
Beth-Center (0-3) drove to Carmichaels 5-yard line early in the fourth quarter but a penalty pushed the Bulldogs back. Then the Mikes’ Greg Kundly stepped in front of a B-C pass and returned an interception into Bulldogs territory. The turnover set up a 40-yard touchdown run around left end by Brandon Yekel that gave Carmichaels an 18-0 lead.
