CANONSBURG – After a rough third quarter, things looked dire for Canon-McMillan on Friday night.

But the Big Macs found a way to rally in the fourth for a 33-29 victory over Seneca Valley in a topsy turvy Class 6A Quad County Conference game Friday night.

The Big Macs trailed by 10 points in the fourth quarter, but touchdown runs by TJ Sabatucci and Braelon Wingfield helped turn the tide.

Those two touchdowns came on the heels of 22 unanswered points by Seneca Valley in the third and fourth quarters.

Andrew Loebig intercepted a Ty Jansma pass on the first play of the third quarter and it led to a Cayden Parker touchdown from four yards out.

Canon-McMillan (2-1, 4-3) punted on its next drive and the Raiders (0-3, 2-5) quickly moved the ball down the field and took the lead on a 16-yard touchdown pass from Loebig to Adam Gehm.

Loebig and Gehm connected again on a two-point conversion and the Raiders led 22-19 midway through the third quarter.

Canon-McMillan was forced to punt again on its next drive and Seneca Valley again marched right down the field.

Loebig hit Parker on a 14-yard touchdown pass on a third down play to make it 29-19.

The Big Macs trailed by a point after the first quarter, but a fumbled punt and an interception helped them score 19 unanswered points.

Seneca Valley’s first mistake came on the first play of the second quarter when a bad snap to the punter gave the Big Macs the ball at the 10 yard line.

Rhys Maentz made a 28-yard field goal to give them a 9-7 lead.

On Seneca Valley’s next possession, Luke Sohyda tipped a Andrew Loebig pass and Logan Logsdon intercepted it at the 15 yard line. On the next play Ty Jansma threw a touchdown pass to Ethan Campoli to increase the lead to 16-7.

Following a Seneca Valley punt, Maentz added to the Big Macs’ lead with a 42-yard field goal, which made it 19-7

After each team punted on its first possession, Seneca Valley struck first when Andrew Loebig hit Danny Drennan on a 26-yard touchdown pass with 6:21 remaining in the first quarter. It capped a 60-yard drive that was aided by a pass interference penalty on Canon-McMillan.

The Big Macs responded with an 11-play, 80 yard drive that ended with a TJ Sabatucci one-yard run. After an offside penalty on Seneca Valley, Canon-McMillan decided to go for two in lieu of the extra point, but Ty Jansma’s pass was intercepted and Seneca Valley led 7-6 after one quarter.
