Montour strong in the middle, edges Trinity

MCKEES ROCKS – Brandon Bennett passed for two touchdowns and ran for another as Montour held off visiting Trinity, 35-27, Friday night.

Montour (2-1) scored 28 points over the middle two quarters. A 70-yard TD pass from Bennet to Zander Stern gave the Spartans a 20-14 lead at halftime.

Trinity (1-2) forged ahead on a 9-yard scoring run by Owen Gardner in the third quarter, but Montour responded with a one-yard plunge by Bennett and a 9-yard touchdown run by Caden Halajcio.

Trinity quarterback Jonah Williamson opened the scoring with a 20-yard TD run and had an 8-yard score in the fourth quarter that brought the Hillers to within eight points. Williamson also had a 3-yard scoring run.
