The final two spots for the Pony League World Series, which starts Friday, have been filled.

Bronx, N.Y., is the East Zone champion. Hagerstown, Md., edged the Bronx 8-6 to force a one-game contest for the zone championship and a trip to Washington. Bronx won that game, 6-5.

Bronx will play its first game at the world series Saturday (2:30 p.m.) against Gijon, Spain. The winner of that game will play Washington County Sunday at noon.

In the West Zone, Long Beach, Calif., survived a pair of elimination games to win the championship. Long Beach defeated Sierra Madre, Calif., 12-2, in the final.

Long Beach scored 38 runs in its five games in the zone tournament. The West Zone champions will play Friday (7:30 p.m.) against Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. The world series begins Friday (4:30 p.m.) when Host Area champion Mon Valley plays South Zone winner Palmview, Texas.
