The Pittsburgh Penguins acquired a 2028 third-round draft pick from the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday in exchange for goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic.

The Penguins also signed three free agents, including two former Boston Bruins. Signed were forward Justin Brazeau along with defensemen Parker Wotherspoon and Caleb Jones.

Nedeljkovic played in 38 games last season for the Penguins. He had a 14-15 record and a 3.12 goals-against average.

The trade likely secures a roster spot for goaltender Joel Blomqvist.

The acquisition of the third-round draft pick gives the Penguins nine selections in the 2028 draft – Pittsburgh’s original seven picks plus San Jose’s third- and fifth-round selections.

The 6-6, 227-pound Brazeau split last season between the Minnesota Wild and Boston. In 76 games, Brazeau recorded 11 goals, 11 assists and 22 points. Wotherspoon played in 55 games with the Bruins, tallying one goal, six assists and seven points.

Jones spent last year split between the Los Angeles Kings, where he suited up for six games, and their AHL affiliate, the Ontario Reign.
