Pittsburgh Penguins General Manager Kyle Dubas had a busy Wednesday night.

The Penguins traded 28-year-old defenseman Vincent Desharnais to the San Jose Sharks

for a 2028 fifth-round pick and about an hour later traded forward Michael Bunting to Nashville.

Desharnais, who is under contract through next season, has been traded twice in five weeks after going from Vancouver to Pittsburgh in the deal that got the Canucks Marcus Pettersson.

That set up the Penguins to add two-time Cup-winning defenseman Luke Schenn and forward Tommy Novak from the Nashville Predators for Bunting and a fourth-rounder in 2026. Bunting is out indefinitely after surgery to remove his appendix.

The NHL Trade deadline is Friday.
