Burning ban bangs Wild Things’ fireworks

The Wild Things’ successful season, which has them in first place in the Frontier League’s West Division, has included plenty of fireworks on the field.
However, if you have tickets to Washington’s home game Friday night against Lake Erie and wanted to see the postgame fireworks show, then those plans have fizzled.
Because of a temporary ban on outdoor burning in North Franklin Township, the Wild Things’ fireworks night activities have been canceled. The ban includes residential and commercial fireworks.
“On the advice of fire chief Dave Bane, North Franklin Township, Washington County, has banned all outdoor burning in the township,” Emergency Management Coordinator and Supervisor Chairman Bob Sabot said in a news release.
“No burning until we get substantial rain. We need to be cautious at this point.”
The Wild Things have postgame fireworks after every Friday night home game. There is one more Friday home game scheduled during the regular season, Aug. 30 against Schaumburg.
Those holding tickets for Friday’s game will receive a link via email for complimentary tickets to the team’s first playoff game next month.
