CRESTWOOD, Ill. – Cam Phelts hit a tiebreaking RBI infield single in the seventh inning that gave the Windy City ThunderBolts a 3-2 win over the Wild Things in a rain-shortened game Tuesday night.

The loss snapped Washington’s six-game winning streak.

Phelts’ hit came three pitches before rain forced a stoppage of play, which never resumed. The seventh inning, which began tied 2-2, also included two errors by Washington.

Windy City scored first, on a two-run double by Brennen Dorighi in the third inning against Washington starter Malik Barrington.

Washington pulled to within 2-1 in the fourth inning on an RBI double by Tommy Caufield that scored Caleb McNeely, who had singled to start the inning. In the sixth, McNeely doubled, went to third on a Caufield groundout and scored on an RBI single by Tyreque Reed that tied the game.

Windy City scored in the seventh against reliever Brendan Nail (1-1).

Dan brown (2-3) was the winner with 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief.
