Wild Things make roster moves
The Wild Things picked up the team option on 11 players Friday, declined options on 10 others and announced the signing of lefty pitcher Edwar Polimar.
Polimar was on the spring training roster for the 2024 season but spent the entire year on the suspended list because of visa issues. Polimar spent three years in the New York Yankees’ farm system and struck out 93 over 67 1/3 innings.
Washington picked up the options on left-handed pitcher Marlon Perez, right-handed pitcher Hunter DuPuy, Aaron Forrest, Gyeongju Kim and Zach Kirby, catcher Jake Washer, infielders Carson Clowers and Tommy Caufield, utility player Donald Harris IV and outfielders Wagner Lagrange and Caleb McNeely, the latter the Frontier League’s MVP last season.
The Wild Things declined the option on pitchers Yeury Gervacio, Ryan Munoz, Christian James, Nick McDonald and Lukas Young, catchers Ricardo Sanchez and J.C. Santini, infielder Carlos Santiago and outfielders Anthony Boccio and Baron Radcliff. Those players will become free agents Monday.
Previously, Washington announced that designated hitter Tyreque Reed and infielder Nathan Wilder have been re-signed. All other players from Washington’s roster were on one-year contracts last season and are free agents.
