EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Washington scored four runs with two outs in the top of the 10th inning – three on a home run by Caleb McNeely – and the Wild Things defeated the Evansville Otters 6-2 Wednesday night at Bosse Field.

Evansville had taken advantage of a Washington error to score the tying run in the bottom of the ninth and send the game to the tiebreaker inning.

Washington started the 10th with Robert Chayka on second base. After a strikeout, Chayka advanced to third base when Wagner Lagrange grounded out.

Andrew Czech walked, and then Tyreque Reed benefitted from two Evansville errors. A dropped foul ball kept Reed’s at-bat alive, and a an error on the Otters’ third baseman on a grounder allowed Chayka to score the go-ahead run.

McNeely followed with a three-run homer to center field off Evansville reliever Michael McAvene (0-2).

Gyneongjy Kim (1-0) gave up an unearned run in the ninth inning but was the winning pitcher. Nick McDonald pitched a scoreless 10th inning.

Washington starter Kobe Foster allowed three hits and one run over seven innings. He walked one and struck out eight.

The Wild Things took a 2-0 lead in the seventh inning when Evan Berkey homered after J.C. Santini walked.
